Hand Roasted, Always Fresh
We hand-roast our specialty coffee daily and are proud to ROAST DATE EVERY BAG. Hand roasted, whole bean coffee, when properly packaged, will retain its freshness for at least a month or more. 
We recommend buying only fresh, roast-dated whole bean coffee from a roaster you know and trust. Grind only enough for your immediate needs and store the rest in its re-sealable bag, out of direct sunlight.
A note about blends. Blending two or more different coffees can improve a good coffee or disguise the flavor of a bad (i.e. cheap) one. It’s not uncommon to find clever names applied to a bad coffee blend. Each Sailor’s Choice blend identifies the ratios of coffee, as well as the country of origin. You’ll always know exactly what you’re getting with each pound of Sailor’s Choice coffee.
If it isn’t roast-dated, and if you can’t tell from the label where the coffee was grown, DON’T BUY IT.
The Roaster’s Skill
Coffee roasting is both science and art. Coffee beans from different origins need different roasting techniques to bring out their hidden flavors. We use specially developed, proprietary roasting profiles, different for each coffee, to reveal its hidden flavor secrets. Each coffee flavor is meticulously hand processed, before and after roasting and blending, to assure its highest possible quality, flavor and aroma.
